Henry County (Ga.) district is building a STEM-focused high school in Stockbridge
The Henry County (Ga.) district has chosen Stockbridge as the location for its first STEM-themed high school.
The school will be built on the former site of Patrick Henry High School and will be adjacent to the district's Stockbridge Elementary, reports WXIA News.
The school site was chosen to take advantage of the partnership between the school district and Piedmont Henry Hospital officials and other key STEM industry leaders," according to a district news release.
“When our school community overwhelmingly voiced their desire to see a STEM-focused school built in our county, we utilized existing partnerships and fostered new relationships to begin the important work in creating this unique opportunity to provide greater access and opportunities for our students to STEM careers,” superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis said.
Groundbreaking is planned for 2023.
