The schools will remain separate but will share resources with upgraded facilities and new buildings in Indianapolis.

A $225 million upgrade will enable the Indiana's School for the Deaf and the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired to share facilities in Indianapolis.

WXIN News reports that after an extensive search for potential new locations for a combined campus, state officials decided to move the School for the Deaf to the School for the Blind's existing location on the north side of Indianapolis.

Existing facilities will be renovated, and new buildings will be added, state officials said.

Each school will continue to operate separately but will share resources.
