The Memphis-Shelby County (Tenn.) district is looking to borrow about $55 million from the county for construction of a high school.
The proposed $80 million high school would be built in the city's Frayser neighborhood. It would be the first of five schools the district has proposed to build by 2031 as part of its Reimagine 901 facilities plan, reports The Commercial Appeal.
The district is considering building the school on existing property at Trezevant High School or at Martin Luther King Preparatory High School, a charter high school.

District documents show the new high school is proposed to be about 215,000 square feet to accommodate 2,000 students, with room to expand to 2,400 students.
If approved, the school could be finished by 2025.
