Emporia State University will move nursing department to the main university campus in Emporia, Kan.

Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan., is relocating its nursing department from a local hospital site to the main university campus.

The university is planning to renovate part of Central Morse Hall, which has been vacant since spring 2019, to house the nursing department, reports KVOE News.

The department of nursing is now housed in the Cora Miller building situated on the Newman Regional Health campus. That's about 10 blocks from the main Emporia State campus.

The university says it will be less costly to renovate Central Morse than to purchase the Cora Miller building. 

The university will renovate Central Morse before the nursing department moves. Officials expect the process to be completed within the next two years.
