Horry County (S.C.) district looks at plan to construct 4 elementary schools
The Horry County (S.C.) district is looking at construction plans for four elementary schools--two new campuses and two rebuilt campuses.
The district is looking at rebuilding South Conway Elementary and St. James Elementary schools and constructing two new schools in the Carolina Forest neighborhood, reports WBTW.
The new schools are needed to accommodate the district's enrollment growth. The two existing schools need to be replaced because of their advanced age.
“St. James elementary school is about 107% capacity at this point,” said Lisa Bourcier, spokesperson for Horry County Schools. “We have seen tremendous growth. Over 20% of our student body live within the Carolina Forest attendance area.”
