The four parcels of land where the new center will be built are adjacent to the district's Burlington Elementary School, reports the Roanoke Times.
The new facility will replace the district's existing CTE facility in Salem. The district has outgrown the existing facility, which was built in 1962 and sits in a flood plain.
Acquiring the 23-acre site will cost the district about $3.4 million. The building is projected to cost over $80 million, according to the district's capital improvement plan.
The facility will have about 238,000 square feet of space.
