The 2013 Educational Interiors Showcase jury Dave Hill Eric Byrne and Robert Keller

Meet the 2013 Educational Interiors Showcase Jury

Aug. 1, 2013
Jurors met to judge this year's Educational Interiors Showcase competition.

Eric Byrne, RA

Associate • ACI Boland Architects, Kansas City, Mo.

Eric has designed a wide array of building types under a diverse set of programs during his 20-year career in architecture. These projects include K-12 school buildings, gymnasiums, performing-arts centers, and district administration buildings. Eric responds to the community and the immediate environment with an even-handed integration of each project’s requirements.

Eric completed both Master of Architecture and Master of Civil Engineering degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1993. He combines his educational background with an overarching artistic organic design sensibility. His projects have received several design awards. Rather than respond to a school design with random elements of renewable architecture, Eric believes that commendable education design stems from the balance between modern teaching approaches, and the challenges imposed by the limits of location, budget and circumstance.

During that time, Dave’s team has managed five major capital-improvement programs totaling more than $1 billion, and overseen the construction of 14 elementary schools, seven middle schools, three high schools and dozens of additions and renovations to existing facilities.
