Construction Zone: New school
East Ridge Middle School, Clermont, Fla., is a new $41.6 million, 169,942-square-foot school for 1,414 students.
The facility includes a three-story classroom building; three-story media center and science building; a three-story bridge spanning the courtyard, connecting the classroom and media/science buildings; 39 classrooms and six resource rooms; a music suite with four practice rooms, along with band, vocal and ensemble rooms; a 25,500-square-foot dining/multipurpose space with an open stage; a gymnasium; four vocational labs; and administration offices. The project was completed in July 2008.
In 2007, this design won an “Award of Merit” from the American Institute of Architects, Orlando chapter.
The architect is SchenkelShultz Architecture. (Orlando). The construction manager is PPI Construction Management, Inc. (Orlando)
