The Twin Falls (Idaho) district has broken ground on a new middle school.
The Twin Falls Times-News reports that the $30.8 million South Hills Middle School, which will be the third middle school in the district, is scheduled to open in 2017. The campus will will accommodate up to 1,000 students.
The project is one of three schools the district is building with funds from a $74 million bond issue that voters approved last year. Rock Creek and Pillar Falls elementary schools, now under construction, will open in 2016.
South Hills will be the first middle school to open in Twin Falls since 1979. The 13,000-square-foot building will be two stories tall. It will have a gymnasium, practice football field, a game field and track, and two soccer fields, and each grade level will have its own area without the school.
The architect is LCA Architects.
