Northwestern Michigan College, a community college in Traverse City, plans to build a $7.3 million student housing development on campus.
UpNorthLive.com reports that the three-story residence hall would be built on what is now a softball field and would have 36 units and space for 144 students.
School officials say Northwestern is one of the few community colleges in Michigan that offer on-campus housing, and demand among students and prospective students is growing. Right now, the school has living space on campus for about 300 students.
The college hopes to have the new residence hall completed by August 2017.
