Construction of new high school to begin in Manatee County, Fla.
The Manatee County (Fla.) district is scheduled to break ground this week on a new high school campus in the Parrish area.
The Bradenton Herald reports that North River High School will be constructed on a 98-acre site in northeast Manatee County.
The $90 million school will be built to hold between 2,000 and 2,400 students and is expected to open in August 2019. It will be the first new high school opened by the Manatee County district since Braden River High School was built in August 2005.
“North River High will provide much needed relief to the overcrowding at Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto and Braden River high schools," says Superintendent Diana Greene.
Special academic programs planned for the new high school include Automotive, Health Occupations, Agriculture and Engineering.
