The Brownfield (Texas) district is ready to begin construction of a $34 million high school.
EverythingLubbock.com reports that the new Brownfield High School, scheduled for completion in July 2021, will serve students in grades 9 through 12.
“It’s going to be equipped for educating today’s students and not students of the past," says Superintendent Chris Smith. "Schools in general, when you get into an older building, they’re just not equipped."
The district says the new campus will include core academic space, career and technical space, a STEM lab, fine arts spaces for band, choir and theater, a new competition gym and practice gym.
“It’s going to be future ready, which means it’s going to have the opportunity to be expanded both physically and infrastructure," says Smith.
Once the new high school is completed, Brownfield Middle School will move to the old high school.
The existing middle school facility will be scheduled for demolition; however, the auditorium and the gym in the existing middle school will be preserved.
