The Pulaski County (Ga.) district has broken ground on a K-12 school building that will replace its aging facilities.

WMGT-TV reports that the campus, now under construction in Hawkinsville, Ga., is scheduled to open in 2023.

David Daneill, director of operations for Pulaski County Schools, says all three of the district's schools are nearly 50 years old and have damage to roofs, doors, and pipes.

“The state is going to give us 76% for the new building,” says Daniell.

The state is providing nearly $37 million of the $47 million project cost. The remainder of the money for the project will come from the county’s sales tax revenue.

The new campus will include a new running track, a soccer practice field, multiple tennis courts, a new indoor facility, and technology filled classrooms. A security system will monitor activity on campus.
