The Gahanna-Jefferson (Ohio) school district is moving forward with plans to build a new high school and additions to two elementary and three middle schools

The projects stem from the second phase of the district's master facilities plan. Situated in the suburbs northeast of Columbus, Gahanna-Jefferson is experiencing rapid growth and needs additional space to alleviate crowding, as well as updates and enhancements to aging facilities.

Built in 1927, the existing Lincoln High School has received numerous additions through the years, but now it is outdated and no longer meets the needs of its 2,800 students.

The new high school will have academic classrooms, flexible environments that adapt to a variety of student needs, hands-on labs, a performing arts center, athletics center and field house, and an expansive cafeteria space.

To accommodate increasing student enrollment throughout the district, Gahanna-Jefferson also is adding classrooms for general instruction, art, and music, and expanded cafeteria space at two K-5 elementary schools and three middle schools.

The additions will enable the district to provide flexible learning environments and provide space for future growth.

The architects are DLR Group and Schorr Architects.
