July 21, 2021
The new campus in Herriman, Utah, will offer classes from Salt Lake City Community college and the University of Utah.

Salt Lake Community College has broken ground on  a 90,000-square-foot building that will be the first facility at the new Juniper Canyon Campus in Herriman, Utah.

The $57 million facility is set to open in 2023 and will offer both Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and University of Utah classes to adults and high school students in the surrounding area

Students will be able to earn an SLCC associate degree and a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah on the same location, reports The Salt Lake Tribune.

The campus will offer degrees in teaching, software engineering, business and nursing, social work, mathematics and information systems. Students will also have access to student services such as admissions, disability support, financial aid, advising, transfer support and tutoring.

Enrollment for the new campus is projected to start with 2,125 students in 2023 and grow to 6,750 students in 2025, according to the college

Funding for the building was appropriated by the Utah State Legislature in 2021, with additional support from SLCC, the University of Utah, private donors and infrastructure investments from Herriman City.

Big-D Construction is the contractor for the project.
