Lebanon (Pa.) district is constructing a new building for grades 7 and 8
The Lebanon (Pa.) school district is constructing a new building for seventh and eighth graders and is revamping its existing middle school facility.
The middle school building will be converted to house fifth and sixth graders, reports The Lebanon Daily News.
The construction will enable the district to take fifth-graders out of elementary buildings. Right now, all Lebanon students in grades six through eight attend a single middle school.
The middle school is at more than 100% capacity, and many students have had to attend some classes in modular classrooms alongside the building.
The district says facility upgrades could cost anywhere between $65 million and $70 million.
Officials plan to use some Covid relief funds for the project. That means the district must meet certain criteria, such as completing construction by September 2024.
