$107 million bond proposal is approved in the Blue Springs (Mo.) district
The Blue Springs (Mo.) district will begin building additions at multiple elementary schools and one of its high schools.
A $107 million bond issue approved last week by voters will enable the district to update James Lewis, William Bryant, Chapel Lakes and Franklin Smith elementary schools and Blue Springs High, reports The Examiner.
James Lewis Elementary will add six classrooms and office space. William Bryant will add six new classrooms. Four new classrooms at Chapel Lakes Elementary will be built to withstand an EF5 tornado. Franklin Smith Elementary will add a multipurpose room with EF5 capability.
Blue Springs High School will add a freshman wing, which will enable the district to close its Freshman Center. The facility will be converted to a career educational center.
Other bond projects:
• Upgrades to the indoor pool at Centennial Pool-Plex.
• Franklin Smith, Lucy Franklin, Voy Spears Jr., William Bryant, and William Yates elementary schools will all receive kitchen upgrades.
• Roof and HVAC maintenance at many district buildings.
• All-weather surfaces for the middle school tracks.
• Office expansion and driveway updates for John Nowlin Elementary.
• Additional parking and restrooms at James Walker Elementary.
