Spokane (Wash.) district is constructing a 140,000-square-foot middle school
The Spokane (Wash.) school district is moving forward with plans to build a new middle school.
The district has to demolish three buildings to clear the way for the Denny Yasuhara Middle School in northeast Spokane, reports The Spokesman-Review.
The two-story, 140,000-square-foot middle school will accommodate 750 students.
Construction is slated to be complete in summer 2022.
MMEC Architecture is designing the school, and Bouten Construction is the contractor.
Denny Yasuhara Middle School is one of several projects included in a $495 million bond program approved by votes in 2018.
The program calls for constructing three new middle schools; replacing three existing middle schools; adding space for option programs at two locations; a new downtown stadium; safety and technology updates; and building field and playground improvements.
