Brooklyn high school is adding a newsroom and a hydroponics lab
Liberation Diploma Plus High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. is constructing a hydroponics lab and a newsroom classroom.
A $455,000 city grant is enabling the school to construct the new classrooms, reports the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
The school, is a transfer alternative school, which admits older students who have fallen behind in credits, dropped out or need a fresh start, according to the school's website.
School officials said the school plans to grow fresh produce in the hydroponics lab and share the fresh produce with the residents of Coney Island.
The school sustained heavy damage during Superstorm Sandy, and previously secured $3.7 million for renovations and upgrades to the auditorium and gymnasium.
