Brookline (Mass.) district breaks ground on elementary
The Brookline (Mass.) district is constructing an elementary school.
The new Michael Driscoll School will be fossil-fuel free, reports WickedLocal.com.
Voters approved a $115.3 million debt exclusion override to fund the construction of the school and play space around the Driscoll neighborhood.
The 36-classroom elementary school is expected to serve about 800 kindergarten through eighth grade students.
The facility will have a media center, a glass-enclosed art, maker space and functional lab, collaboration and breakout areas, and science spaces.
An additional basement level will have a 25-car garage and an athletics suite with a 6,000-square-foot gymnasium and associated athletic facilities.
Johnathan Levi Architects designed the facility.
Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2023.
