Catholic high school in California begins $100 million fund-raising campaign to help pay for expansion
St. Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif., has kicked off a $100 million fund-raising campaign, most of which is earmarked for construction.
School officials say they plan to spend $60 million to build an innovation center and a dining commons, The Los Altos Town Crier reports. Dujarie Hall and Malcolm Center will be torn down to make way for the innovation center.
The center will have
• A lobby designed to mimic collegiate and corporate collaborative spaces.
• Glass cube seating for small-group collaboration.
• A rooftop garden area with a view for visual engagement with the larger community.
• An accordion door in an innovation lab that opens for presentations.
• 29 classrooms and labs with flexible seating to accommodate varied learning styles and purposes.
• A black-box theater for performances and events with 150 to 200 seats.
• A maker space with areas for woodworking, welding, painting and finishing.
The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
