Charter school in Arizona begins construction of new campus
A new campus for the Great Hearts Anthem Prep Academy is under construction in Anthem, Ariz.
Anthem Prep Academy will be a 82,000-square-foot building to accommodate its growing enrollment, reports The Foothills Focus.
The new two-story school building will sit on 10 acres of land and will include a large gym, football/soccer field, lab rooms, special education rooms, a library, and more classrooms. The new location is about two miles away from the current campus.
Anthem Prep is part of the Great Hearts Academies charter school network. The schools teach classical education with an emphasis on liberal arts.
The building now housing Anthem students was always meant to be a temporary space, said Great Hearts Arizona President Erik Twist.
Anthem Preparatory Academy has nearly 750 students in grades K-12 and is on track to grow close to 1,000 over the next six years.
Construction is expected to be complete for 2022-23.
