$11 million addition at Maryland middle school will alleviate crowding
The Worcester County (Md.) district has begun construction of an addition at Stephen Decatur Middle School in Berlin.
The $11 million 25,000-square-foot addition will alleviate crowding at the school, The Maryland Coast Dispatch reports.
The addition will provide 12 classrooms, four science labs, meeting and prep space and additional storage. It also will create a secure entry vestibule.
The crowding has forced the school to rely on nine portable classrooms.
Becker Morgan Group designed the addition and Whiting-Turner Contracting is the construction manager.
