Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is building a $150 million addition
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., is expanding its Steven & Susan Lipstein BJC Institute of Health building. The expansion will add six floors to the existing building, the university says in a news release.
The $150 million addition will provide 160,000 square feet of laboratory space.
The expansion will house a 7,900-square-foot biosafety level 3, or high-containment, laboratory to support research on infectious viruses.
Other new spaces include a 5,100-square-foot Biologic Therapy Core Facility for cellular therapies to treat cancer; 103,000 square feet of additional laboratories; and about 44,000 square feet of mechanical building-support areas.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2024.
The Lawrence Group is the architect, and Alberici Healthcare LLC will oversee construction.
