The new facility will replace the existing South Middle School. It will be the town's first all-new school in the half century since Braintree High School was built, reports The Patriot Ledger.
The school will accommodate about 800 students in grades five through eight. The project is part of the district's plan to relieve crowding at elementary schools by moving fifth grade into middle schools.
The new school is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
MDS Architects is the architect and Bacon Construction is the construction manager.
