Indiana district is constructing two new elementary schools
The Greater Clark County (Ind.) district is constructing two elementary schools in Jeffersonville and Charlestown.
The plans call for consolidating Pleasant Ridge and Jonathan Jennings elementary schools in a new facility at the Jonathan Jennings location in Charlestown. The district is also consolidating Wilson and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools in a new building at the Wilson Elementary location in Jeffersonville, reports The News and Tribune.
The buildings being replaced are among the oldest in the district. Thomas Jefferson Elementary is about 70 years old, and both Jonathan Jennings and Wilson are about 60 years old.
All four schools have facility deficiencies and the district has decided to replace rather than repair.
The district is also carrying out additions and repairs at several other schools.
Northaven and Riverside elementary schools are receiving renovations and additions, facility improvements are happening at Charlestown and River Valley middle schools, and Jeffersonville and New Washington high schools are getting new athletic facilities.
Construction on the elementary schools is expected to be completed by August 2024.
J. Lake Architecture and Lancer + Beebe are the architects. CORE Construction is the construction manager.
