Georgia STEM charter school partners with Girl Scouts to construct a second location
A partnership between Amana Academy West, a STEM charter school in Alpharetta, Ga., and the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta is enabling the school to construct a new facility on the Girl Scout's Camp Timber Ridge in Mableton, Ga.
Camp Timber Ridge is a 270-acre tract owned by the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, reports SaportaReport.
The location will provide Amana Academy West students with spaces to explore and use the natural environment as a classroom.
The Alpharetta location opened in 2005 and will soon open a second location, which will feature four cabin-style buildings that will house students in grades kindergarten through three.
The academy plans to enroll about 220 students this year, adding a grade level each year until it reaches eighth grade.
The school is set to open in fall 2022.
