University of Iowa plans several construction projects
The University of Iowa is constructing several new buildings on its Iowa City campus.
The first planned construction project is a West Campus Academic Building near the university's College of Law, reports The Gazette.
The facility will have office suites, classrooms, laboratories and clinical spaces to support the academic and research programs and is also intended to house one level of underground parking.
It will hold academic programs now housed in the 55-year-old Wendell Johnson Speech & Hearing Center, which will be demolished.
The university is also planning to construct a University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic patient bed facility and a teaching and research building for the university's Carver College of Medicine.
The university also has plans for an ambulatory care building on the main campus.
