Ravenswood City (Calif.) district is constructing two buildings at middle school in East Palo Alto

The $50 million construction project will enable the district to remove 30-year-old portable buildings at Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School.

The Ravenswood City (Calif.) school district is spending $50 million to upgrade facilities at Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School in East Palo Alto.

The $50 million project will remove the portable buildings that have served the campus for more than 30 years, reports The Almanac NewsTwo buildings will be added: a two-story structure with seven classrooms and a media center that looks out onto two courtyards; and a one-story structure with four classrooms and a cluster of student service offices.

The plan also calls for renovating all remaining classrooms.

The project is funded through a $70 million bond issue passed by voters in 2018.

Construction is slated to be complete in December 2023.
