The Polk County (Fla.) district is modernizing Fred G. Garner Elementary School in Winter Haven, Fla.
When the project is complete, the 127,000-square-foot campus will accommodate about 990 students, the district says in a news release.
The new facilities will be built in stages; the existing campus buildings will continue serving students until the project is finished.
Funds for the project come from a half-cent sales tax that voters renewed in 2018.
The modernized elementary school is expected to be completed in 2023.
