College of the Desert, a community college based in Palm Desert, Calif., is expanding its Indio campus.
A $67.5 million three-story instructional building will help accommodate enrollment growth, the college says in a news release.
The 67,000-square-foot facility will feature classrooms, a café, offices, science labs, a student success services center, open study and collaboration areas, and a pavilion connecting it to the existing campus building.
The college also will build a $22.1 million Child Development Center. The new building will have toddler and preschool classrooms, an outdoor play yard and shade structures, as well as observation and support spaces.
The existing instructional facility on the Indio campus is also slated for upgrades that will be finished in fall 2024.
Funds for the new facilities will come from a bond proposal approved by voters in 2016.
Construction on the instructional facility and the Child Development Center will be completed by fall 2023.
