High school in West Des Moines, Iowa, is adding 39,000 square feet for career and technical education

The $22 million project at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School will add classrooms for career and technical education, culinary arts, robotics and welding.
The addition is the first significant addition to the campus since it was built in the 1990s, reports The Des Moines Register.
The $22 million project will add career and technical education classrooms along with classrooms for culinary arts, robotics and welding.
The work also will update are the school's kitchen, create a secure vestibule for entry into the building and transition the media center into a presentation hall.
The addition is expected to be completed by August 2023.
