60,000-square-foot campus for charter high school will be built in Indiantown, Fla.
Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Fla., and the Martin County district are constructing a charter high school in Indiantown.
Indiantown High School, set to open later this year in a temporary facility, is a partnership between the college and theschool district. The 60,000-square-foot charter high school will focus on career and workforce education, reportsWQCS.Until the new building is complete, students will be housed in a Boys & Girls Club facility in Indiantown.
The new high school will offer a traditional curriculum with an added focus on career and technical education opportunities in manufacturing, HVAC, automotive technology, and electrical work.
The state budget has allocated $5 million for planning of the high school. An anonymous donor has contributed $10 million to the project, and the Martin County Board of Commissioners approved a lease for 25 acres of county property where the school will be built.
