Peru State College is building five facilities on its Peru, Neb., campus to enhance its sports programs.

The $14.6 million Project ROAR will add more than 104,000 square feet of indoor space to the campus, the college says in a news release.

College officials say that the Wheeler Center, which is the only indoor activity space on campus, cannot accommodate the college's 13 varsity and five junior varsity sports programs. The new buildings will provide the needed space.

Project plans call for adding five buildings, two of which will be air-supported domes, reports The Lincoln Journal Star

One of the domes will have 84,800 square feet of space, which will include a practice football field, a weight room and three hard-surface courts.

An attached building will feature a golf den with two golf simulators, two hitting bays and a putting green. The attached building also will have a lobby, locker rooms and a concession stand.

Three buildings will be situated near the college’s softball and baseball fields south of the main campus.

The other dome will have 6,300 square feet and will have an artificial turf surface for baseball and softball. A second building will house restrooms and a concession stand. A third building near the baseball field will offer the same fan amenities and also provide coaches' offices, locker rooms and athletic training facilities.

Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
