Catholic elementary school in Merrillville, Ind., is undergoing a $3 million expansion

Aquinas Catholic Community School, an elementary school in Merrillville, Ind., is undergoing a $3 million expansion. 

The added space will accommodate the school's growing enrollment, reports Northwest Indiana Business Magazine. 

Since 2017, the school’s enrollment has grown about 40%. About 200 students attend the school now; the expansion will enable the school to add between 50 and 100 students. 

Two classrooms, a teacher's lounge, nurse’s office and an improved security entryway door will be added as part of the project. 

The project is expected to be completed in early 2023.
