The Bixby (Okla.) school district is constructing a new building for its high school.

The 200,000-square-foot, $72 million building for Bixby High School will house about 2,000 students, reports KTUL

The building will feature collaborative technology spaces along with a college and career center with research hubs, dining areas, outdoor learning areas, health and wellness spaces, a broadcasting studio, a student innovation center, a cafe and coffee bar, a school spirit store, a large community meeting room, and college-style lecture halls.

The design also incorporates a reinforced safe space for severe weather.

Funds for the project come from the district's 2016 and 2022 voter approved bonds.

The building is expected to open in 2024.
