New Construction
Appoquinimink (Del.) school district is replacing middle school in Middletown
The Appoquinimink (Del.) district is replacing Louis L. Redding Middle School in Middletown.
The $57.1 million project calls for construction of a new facility in front of the existing 69-year-old building, reports The News Journal.
The upgraded 122,812-square-foot campus will house about 1,000 students.
During construction, students will remain in the existing Redding Middle School and will still have access to the gym, cafeteria, auditorium and band and chorus rooms.
After the new building is completed, the old Redding building will be torn down.
The site of the old Redding building will be redeveloped into an outdoor learning area with park space, athletic areas and fields.
The project is scheduled to be completed by fall 2026.
