New Construction
Binghamton City (N.Y.) district decides to rebuild Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School
The Binghamton City (N.Y.) school district plans to build a new Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School.
Roosevelt will be replaced with a new facility at its existing location, reports Binghamton University's Pipe Dream student newsroom.
The district had considered closing the school because of the building's deteriorating condition, but the board opted instead to rebuild.
To move forward with construction, the school board will need to secure funding and determine where to relocate student while construction proceeds. Because of the limited amount of New York State aid available, completing construction could take anywhere from four to 15 years.
