Clemson University breaks ground on facilities for women's lacrosse and gymnastics
Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., has broken ground on a $37.5 million expansion of facilities for lacrosse, gymnastics and rowing.
The expansion will provide space for the women's lacrosse team, is beginning competition in 2023, and the women's gymnastics program, which will begin competing in 2023-24.
The complex will have a lacrosse stadium, including bleacher seating and artificial turf, and a 9,000-square-foot operations complex, including coaches’ offices, locker rooms, player lounge and other amenities.
To accommodate the gymnastics program, the expansion will provide a 21,000-square-foot facility for day-to-day operations and a full practice facility. It will include a practice gym, offices, locker room, lounge and training room.
The university also is building a 10,000-square-foot training and recovery facility for the lacrosse, gymnastics and rowing programs. It will have space dedicated for sports science, nutrition, sports medicine and strength and conditioning.
In addition, the rowing center will undergo a renovation of its training room and building infrastructure.
