The Neshaminy (Pa.) district has broken ground on a $51 million elementary school.
The Levittown Patch reports that the new campus will replace the aging Pearl S. Buck Elementary School in the township's Levittown section.
The new school will accommodate up to 900 students and will include modern features such as grade-level pods, an expanded library/media enter with a maker space, and energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems.
Pearl S. Buck Elementary opened in 1968 and has not been significantly renovated or upgraded since.
Construction can begin is expected to begin shortly and the target date for completion is August 2024.
The district has not yet selected a name for the new school.
