Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro has broken ground on an 89,000-square-foot Applied Engineering Building
The Daily News Journal reports that the $78.4 million facility will serve as the home for the engineering technology and mechatronics engineering programs as well as provide space for future engineering programs.
The project calls for the demolition of the Voorhies, Engineering Technology Building infrastructure, site improvements, and surrounding pedestrian and vehicular circulation.
Construction completion is anticipated in summer 2025. The architects are HFR and Cooper Carry .
University President Sidney McPhee says the opening of the new facility “will be the finishing touch to what we’ve named the Science Corridor of Innovation that began in 2014 with the opening of our $147 million Science Building."
Last year, Middle Tennessee State opened the $40.1 million School of Concrete and Construction Management Building, a 54,000-square-foot facility that serves as an integrated and experiential learning laboratory.
