The Waco (Texas) district has broken ground on a rebuild of Kendrick Elementary School.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports that Kendrick is one of four schools that the Waco district is rebuilding with funds from a $355 million bond issue approved by voters in 2021.

The school is being built on the same site as the old Kendrick, most of which was demolished earlier this year.

The old school opened in 1952 and had 303 students in its first year. The new campus will cost $47.4 million and will have space for 750 students.

The rebuild is set to be completed in May 2025.
