2 high schools in Davis (Utah) district are getting upgrades
The Davis (Utah) district has begun a multimillion-dollar upgrade of two of its high school campuses.
KSL.com reports that the district will spend $32.9 million on improvements at Layton High School in Layton and $32 million on upgrades at Clearfield High School in Clearfield.
At Layton, a new wing will add 14 classrooms dedicated to performing arts, science, and family and consumer sciences, along with interior corridor remodeling to alleviate congestion.
At Clearfield, plans call for adding a two-story building to house all of Clearfield's Career and Technical Education courses.
Funding for the improvements comes from a $475 million bond proposal that voters approved in 2022.
Other Davis district construction projects:
- Island View Elementary in West Point is nearly finished and will open later this summer. A new three-story junior high, also in West Point, is under construction and to be finished in fall 2025.
- Two schools are being rebuilt on the campus they occupy, Sunset Junior High in Sunset and Bountiful Elementary in Bountiful. Those are set to be completed in 2025-2026.
The Davis district, with around 71,000 students, it is the second-largest district in Utah.
