Sioux Falls (South Dakota) district will replace aging middle school
The district plans to buy 29 homes to clear the way for a new Whittier Middle School, which will be constructed on a football field north of the existing campus.
KELO-TV reports that plans for replacing the old Whittier Middle School building have been in the works for years.
Three sites were being considered. The board chose the one that will affect the fewest homes. The new facility will be erected on the football field to the north of the existing building.
The Sioux Falls district plans to buy 29 homes and one church to make room for the new construction. The district already has bought about one-third of the 29 homes.
The district estimates that the new school could be completed by 2030.
