The New Hampshire Union Leader reports that Brian S. McCarthy Middle School is set to open on Aug. 27.
About 670 students, most of whom live in the southwest quadrant of Nashua, will attend the $92 million school, according to the latest projected enrollment numbers.
The new school will replace the downtown Elm Street Middle School, which served as the city’s high school prior to the 1970s.
Work on the McCarthy school, which sits on a 20-acre site, began in 2019.
The future of the Elm Street Middle School building — which until 1975 had been Nashua Senior High School — is still up in the air.
