The Hartford Courant reports that the new building will provide instructional spaces, a simulation lab suite, human behavioral research lab, wet lab, student academic center and offices and support spaces, officials said.
The university says the facility will be built on the South Campus; the School of Nursing program now resides entirely within Storrs Hall on the north side of campus. The new building will be adjacent to existing clinical, academic, and research space.
A $50 million donation from UConn alumna Elisabeth DeLuca and a $30 million allocation from the state legislature will help pay for construction of the facility.
The building is scheduled to open in July 2026.
When construction is completed, the School of Nursing will vacate Storrs Hall and the university will identify a new use for the vacated space.
