The Marion County (Florida) district has broken ground on a $154 million high school in Ocala.

Ocala-News.com reports that the campus, the first new high school in the district in more than 20 years, is scheduled to open for the 2026-27 academic year. It will be able to accommodate more than 2,000 students.

District officials say the school will provide space for the growing student population in southwest Marion County. The site is about 21 miles east of Dunnellon High School, 17 miles south of West Port High School, and about 12 miles west of Belleview High School.

When complete, the school will consist of three building complexes, 61 classrooms, and 20 labs.

Plans also call for a 2,000-seat athletic stadium, a 1,332-seat gymnasium, an 858-seat cafeteria, an 800-seat performing arts auditorium, 867 parking spaces, and several playing fields for other sports.
