Northwest (Texas) district breaks ground on new high school

The campus in Fort Worth will be the district's 4th comprehensive high school when it opens in 2027.

The Northwest (Texas) Independent School District has broken ground in Fort Worth on its newest high school.

WFAA-TV reports that the school, which has not yet been named,will be Northwest's fifth high school and fourth comprehensive high school campus.

The new high school, set to open in 2027, is being built to relieve crowding at Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest high schools

The campus will feature a football field, tennis courts and areas for specialized career training.

Money to construct the school comes from a bond issue of nearly $2 billion that voters approved in May 2023.

Community Impact reports that enrollment in the Northwest distsrict is projected to climb from 32,022 in 2024-25 to 38,700 in 2029-30.
