After a three-year hiatus, the upgraded Hubble Planetarium has reopened at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Originally built in 1979, the planetarium was closed three years ago for renovations. The 38-seat astronomy center now has a new computerized LED lighting system, as well as new seating and carpeting.
The school also installed Uniview software, which was developed at the American Museum of Natural History using their Digital Universe data bank, according to school spokeswoman Lisa Willner.
"Using this software, visitors can literally fly off of the Earth and view our Universe from anywhere,” Willner told AS&U.
