The Linn-Mar school board has authorized the DLR Group of Des Moines to begin taking bids later this week for a $30 million renovation project at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa.
The board’s preliminary design plans for the school include two new main entrances, a collegiate-style lecture hall, an expanded fitness center, a student store and a guidance center where students will meet with career or college representatives, according to ABC affiliate KCRG.
The renovation will also include more student collaboration areas, as well as improved technology and security infrastructure with a wayfinding overlay that will help students and visitors navigate through the school.
The renovation will also increase the school’s enrollment capacity by 400-500 students up from its current enrollment of 2,200. The majority of the project is scheduled to be completed between December 2016 and August 2017.
